CONFIDENTIALITY
Your information is confidential. I will normally not share your information with anyone or any organisation. This is the case whether you have a conversation with me, send me an email or message, or make a payment by PayPal, card or bank transfer.
The exceptions to this rule would be if my files are subpoenaed by a Court, or if I become aware that you or somebody else is in serious danger, and believe that breaching confidentiality would reduce the risk. I also sometimes discuss clients in professional supervision, but details are kept private and my professional supervisor is bound to adhere to the same confidentiality code as I am.
CLIENT NOTES
If I have a session with you, your client notes are kept in a confidential and secure locked place for 5 years from the last point of contact, unless you make a formal request that I destroy the notes earlier or ask me to keep them for longer. Notes are shredded confidentially.
YOUR DATA RIGHTS
If you have had a private or group therapy session with me, spoke to me over the phone, sent an email or other message, or have left a comment, you can request that I erase any personal data that I hold about you. This does not include any data that I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
COMMENTS
If you leave a comment, it might be posted, subject to approval. So, if you want to communicate with me confidentially, please email, phone or text instead of leaving a comment.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. The comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
COOKIES
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
